Letter to Barroso

Dear EU President Jose Manuel Barroso,

we need to give an example to other countries in the world.
To reduce the pollution we need to reduce the transfer of goods around the world. We need to build resilience, not efficiency. We need to work, move, and buy less. We need to slow down, to be more happy.

We need to change how we think agriculture and transportation. We need local solutions, self-sufficiency, independence in case of market crashes.

We need to find alternative solutions to energy consumption, passive heating, small scale local food production, strengthening o social communities. Schools are the place to start. It is not matter of finding new clean technologies. Those will never be enough for everybody.

We need to stop growing and looking for a steady state that is good for everybody, socially acceptable and equal. That could require to forget about some of the modern advantages. We have to keep the necessary and forget the superfluous.

Thanks for your attention.
Best regards,
Sergio (Italian, working in Switzerland for Germany, living in France)
